Something missing in the debate is the things you learn when you study at a college or higher institution. The kind of scrutiny you learn to have against sources and information. You learn about peer review and to be critical and how to debate your point of view with facts. This sector (technology) sometimes have the mindset of just following the latest medium post and not really being critical with what it says. And to be critical (not negative critical but having a healthy skepticism) is something that could be missing sometimes.
I´m not saying that all people that don´t go to college does not have that skepticism. But it´s a value that are preached at these institutions that should be praised more. And is something you might miss when you skip that. When you say that you don’t need college or academics to people you sometimes miss the things you learn except just the knowledge you are there to study.
